DuPage History Magazine Vol. III

Clarissa Hobson (1804-1884) portrayed here by artist Sheldon Peck, was a pioneer settler of DuPage County. In 1830, Clarissa and her husband, Bailey Hobson, undertook the treacherous journey from southern Indiana to what would become DuPage County, Illinois. Author Leone Schmidt titled her article about Clarissa: “The First Lady of DuPage: A Memoir”. Read it and others in Volume III of DuPage History.
